
Burgess Hill Cricket Club is one of the leading clubs in Sussex, playing fixtures in the picturesque conservation area of St John’s Park close to the centre of Burgess Hill since 1872.
We are proud to have been appointed by Sussex County Cricket Club Foundation and the ECB as a Focus Club for this area of the county.
The Club has achieved ECB Clubmark accreditation which confirms our commitment to a safe, child friendly junior section. The club has worked with Sussex County Cricket Club and the ECB, involving the club in excess of 100 hours of qualified coaching to children in schools around Burgess Hill. The work that the club undertakes in the local Community was recently recognised when it won the Active Sussex Club of the Year award.
Senior Men’s Cricket
Since 2008, the club has competed in theSussex Cricket League. We run five Saturday sides across the league. The 4th and 5th XI games in particular provide youngsters with the chance to bridge the gap to, and gain experience of, adult cricket.
In addition, the Club’s Sunday team plays friendly matches throughout the season giving youngsters even more opportunities to gain experience in adult cricket.

Twenty20 & Slam Cricket
Every season teams compete in the Sussex Cricket League Twenty20 competition and Ladies T20 competitions. Games take place mainly on Sunday afternoons. In addition, we have teams in the Men’s and Women’s Slam competitions which are held on mid week evenings.

Women’s Cricket & Softball
Every season our women compete in The Sussex Cricket Foundation Women’s Softball Cricket League. Games take place mainly on weekday evenings with practice sessions every Monday night. The squad are competitive, but the socials are equally important and there is room for everyone regardless of age, ability and experience.
The 2026 season will see a further expansion of the Sussex Women’s Premier League to include a second and third division. Burgess Hill are very proud to be one of the seven clubs participating in the Premier Division with the 2nd XI playing in Division 2.
The Club will continue to actively support the development of Women and Girls cricket in Sussex.

Youth Cricket
ECB Clubmark accredited with Sussex CCC Focus Club status, the club has a strong and vibrant colts’ Academy, with boys teams in the SAYCL Youth League (U’8, U’9, U’10, U’11, U’12, U’13, U’14, U15, U16) and girls teams at all age groups, U11, U12, U13, U15 & U17 age groups.
Our Youth teams participate in the Sussex Cricket Festival, which takes place in August, and the Lady Taverner’s tournaments. They also play friendly matches whenever possible.
Summer outdoor coaching for the Youth Academy is held every Friday evening from 5.00 pm in St John’s Park under the supervision of fully qualified ECB coaches. Winter coaching and indoor nets take place at Hurst College from early February through to early April.

ECB Clubmark accredited, the club has a strong and vibrant colts’ Academy, with boys teams in The Newbery Sussex Junior Cricket League U’8, U’9, U’10, U’11, U’12, U’13, U’14, U15, U16 and girls teams in all age groups, U11, U12, U13, & U15. Our boys and girls youth teams participate in the Sussex Junior Cricket Festival, which takes place throughout August.

Winter Coaching
At Burgess Hill CC, Winter coaching and indoor nets take place in the Sports Hall at Hurst College from early January through to early April for juniors and seniors, women and men.
The Club is committed to providing coaching and cricket to youngsters, girls and boys, of all abilities in a safe and professional environment. All our coaches and managers are fully Enhanced DBS cleared.
The Club also provides indoor softball training for youngsters in the sports hall at Burgess Hill Academy. These start in early February through to April and are for boys in age groups U7 to U10 and girls ages U11. Full details can be found here.

Adult Net Sessions
The Club runs outdoor senior nets at St John’s Park every Wednesday during the summer season at 6.00pm. All seniors, new players and Under 14s, 15s and 16s are welcome. Our adult Winter net sessions will take place at Hurst College in 2025

Net Bookings
- The nets are free to use for Burgess Hill CC members and their families.
- The nets will be available for use from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. each day of the week. Please note for most days between Monday and Friday from 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 .p.m. the nets will be occupied and block booked for club training and matches as well as on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
- All use must be booked in advance by using the following link – https://bhccnets.skedda.com
- Each session will be for a maximum of 50 minutes.
- Net 1 (closest to Pavilion) should be booked first, followed by net 2.
- Please close the security gate of the nets and lock them with the padlock at the end of your session.
- If you use the key in the key safe to access the nets, please ensure the key is replaced back in the key safe.
- You must use your own cricket equipment. The club will leave two sets of stumps in the nets for everyone to use.
- Any use of the facilities by juniors must be supervised by an adult at all times.
- Please ensure that you leave the nets as you find them and take any rubbish away with you.
- There is to be no unauthorised usage.
- If the guidelines are not complied with the club will be forced to close the nets. We occupy a highly visible and prominent area. It is inevitable that failure to comply with the guidelines will result in complaints to the club.
